Compassionate Support Before and After Surgery
Pre- and post-surgical support services are being developed to help individuals prepare for and recover from surgical procedures in the comfort of home. Services will be provided in accordance with applicable practitioner orders, individualized plans of care, and professional scope-of-practice requirements.
Pre-Surgical Support
Pre-surgical support may include:
- Care Preparation: Supporting individuals with appropriate instructions provided by their healthcare team before a procedure.
- Medication and Care Guidance: Reinforcing practitioner-provided instructions regarding medications, preparation, and other care needs.
- Patient Education: Providing information about expected recovery needs, home safety, and when to contact the appropriate healthcare professional.
- Care Coordination: Communicating relevant needs and concerns with appropriate healthcare professionals and caregivers.
Post-Surgical Support
Post-surgical support may include:
- Recovery Monitoring: Observing recovery-related concerns and communicating relevant changes to the appropriate healthcare professional.
- Wound and Incision Support: Supporting wound care and dressing needs in accordance with practitioner orders and the plan of care.
- Mobility and Daily Activity Support: Encouraging safe activity and daily routines according to practitioner-provided instructions.
- Patient Education: Reinforcing instructions regarding medications, activity restrictions, wound care, and signs that require professional attention.
- Care Coordination: Supporting communication among individuals, caregivers, physicians, and other appropriate healthcare professionals.
