Supporting Appropriate Wound Management and Healing
Wound care services are being developed to support appropriate wound management and promote healing in the comfort of home. Services will be provided in accordance with applicable practitioner orders, individualized plans of care, and professional scope-of-practice requirements.
Wound Care May Include
- Supporting proper wound cleansing and dressing changes
- Protecting the wound and surrounding skin
- Monitoring wound progress and communicating relevant changes
- Supporting appropriate measures to promote healing
- Identifying and reporting potential signs of infection or complications to the appropriate healthcare professional
Types of Wounds That May Require Care
- Surgical wounds
- Pressure injuries (bedsores)
- Diabetic foot ulcers
- Venous or arterial ulcers
- Burns
- Traumatic injuries, including cuts, abrasions, and lacerations
